JOOUST is taking a significant step toward boosting community and ecosystem resilience in the Lake Victoria Basin by addressing the impacts of climate change. As part of the VLIR-IUC Project, the university is installing three state-of-the-art automatic weather stations in strategic locations across the basin, in collaboration with the University of Antwerp.
These advanced weather stations are now operational at:
📍The University’s Blue Economy Institute Research Hub in Miyandhe
📍 Ringiti Island
📍 Kenya Wildlife Service facility in Mount Elgon
This initiative will provide vital data to better understand climate patterns and improve the region’s capacity to adapt to climate change. Together, we are creating a more resilient future for both people and ecosystems in the basin.
