Coping With Climate Change In a Just and Resilient Way: The Case of Local Food Systems in Lake Victoria Basin Kenya
SHORT BIO
To investigate if and how Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) serves as a resource or obstacle in coping with climate change. This involves exploring the role of TEK in mitigating or exacerbating the impacts of climate change, understanding how indigenous or traditional knowledge systems can inform adaptive strategies, and identifying potential barriers or challenges in integrating TEK into mainstream climate change adaptation efforts.
To understand how communities relate to newly introduced agriculture and food related technologies and practices. This research will focus on investigating the factors influencing community acceptance and adoption of new agricultural technologies and practices, understanding local perceptions and attitudes towards technological innovations, and assessing the socio-economic impacts of adopting these technologies on communities.
Action research to develop mechanisms for an inclusive and just transition towards more resilience of the local food systems. This research will involve conducting action research to develop and implement inclusive mechanisms for transitioning towards more resilient and just food systems, exploring community-driven approaches to enhancing food security and sustainability, and assessing the social equity implications of transitioning food systems.
