Thesis Title
Uncovering the Last Mile: Exploring the Connection between Pedagogical Beliefs of Higher Educators in Kenya and Their Practices in Online Teaching
SHORT BIO
Currently, I have the position of an eLearning Resource Production Specialist at the Centre for eLearning of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology. My experience in online learning at JOOUST, together with my previous experience, contributed to my interest in Technology-enabled Learning. I am interested in researching the application of online collaborative learning in fully online courses at higher educational levels in Kenya. My goal is to implement interventions that enhance the learning experiences of online students through the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs). My research explores the crucial overlap between educators’ beliefs about teaching and their implementation of online education in Kenyan higher learning institutions. This study examines the extent to which deeply ingrained educational attitudes impact the development, implementation, and efficacy of online courses. Through the identification of these links, the study not only provides insight into the difficulties and possibilities of adjusting to digital learning settings, but also suggests specific interventions to close the divide between belief and practice. The purpose of these interventions is to improve the quality of online education in Kenya by ensuring that teaching methods are both efficient and in keeping with educators’ fundamental principles.
